The sites below are ones we find useful for sourcing data on a regular basis:

Merlin Datawise for secure storage and modern, professional library services to the E&P industry
www.merlin-datawise.co.uk

The ODSN Plate Tectonic Reconstruction Service allowed plate reconstructions to be produced for the present to 150ma. The site seems regularly unavailable now.

An excellent set of global tectonic resources, including reconstructions is available via: http://www.serg.unicam.it/Geo.html

TerraSciences Inc: Functional log and geological interpretation software. Good links page, particularly for interesting geodetic sites. (Yes, we do have TerraScience software in-house!)

National Geophysical Data Center. Digital coastline data source for most of the world. Look at the rest of the site for all sorts of other useful data.

UK DECC Oil and gas Directorate Home Page. Direct access to UK well location and licence data (but see UKDEAL below). Scope of site expanding all the time.
https://www.og.decc.gov.uk/

UK Deal (Now part of CDA): the definitive source of offshore UK well and seismic location data, unfortunately now requiring subscription to access downloads. However, most of the shapefiles are also available via DECC:

Norwegian Petroleum Directorate: site is a wealth of data and information. These fact pages are an excellent example of GIS access to a national data resource. Other national authorities should look and learn!

IGI Ltd: Not only a cracking good company for all things petroleum geochemical (pun intended!), but based in one of the most beautiful sites in the UK. http://www.igiltd.com/index.html

Manifold.Net: the best GIS available for the "rest of us". Extremely powerful and unbelievably low-priced. Try it and see.

Literature searches on-line and good links page: http://www.geolsoc.org.uk

The Society of Petroleum Engineers: Resource definitions (Reserves) and portal to an immense database via the SPE online library. Lots of good links here too.
