Merlin’s Eleanor Oldham attended the EAGE Global Energy Transition (GET) conference in Rotterdam from 28th-30th October. Here is her debrief of the event.
Merlin recently took 15 acquisition and processing specialists from AkerBP to Dorset to enjoy a whistle stop tour through a working petroleum system. Merlin’s Phil Copestake and Bill Wilks have taken client groups on field trips before, but usually it has been for geoscientists, or management wishing to de-mystify sub-surface jargon! In this case, they had the pleasure of taking 15 Scandinavia-based specialists to the three iconic locations on the Jurassic Coast, namely Burton Bradstock, Lulworth Cove and Kimmeridge Bay. Eleanor Oldham will be speaking at the Sixth EAGE Global Energy Transition Conference & Exhibition in Rotterdam from 27th to 31st October. Her presentation highlights the application of rock physics for CCS workflows, with examples of reservoir characterization and feasibility assessment for 4D seismic monitoring. Bill Wilks and Helen Bone have recently returned from Africa Energy Week 2025. With over 6,000 attendees the event is possibly the largest energy conferences on the continent. It provides a forum in which the energy strategies of countries across Africa can be showcased and where operators and investors can connect to further future developments. With so much going on at the conference Bill and Helen came away with a basket of learnings and these are some of their key take aways.
On 2nd-3rd September Eleanor Oldham attended the Geological Society’s 4th CCS Symposium on Effective Characterisation of Storage Sites. Continue reading to learn more about Eleanor's take homes from the conference.
Eleanor Oldham will be attending the Geological Society's 2nd offshore wind symposium later this week on Thursday 18th – 19th September 2025 @ The Geological Society, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London.
Eleanor Oldham will be presenting at The Geological Society’s CCS Symposium in London on 2nd-3rd September. Eleanor is passionate about championing rock physics workflows for CCS reservoir characterisation and seismic MMV…
In our latest blog post we share the take-aways from BEOS 2025 regarding the state of the industry and future trends. Whilst the traditional E&P industry continues to be sluggish for smaller companies, the dawn of sub-surface energy storage could herald a golden age for geoscientists. If you couldn’t make it, give it a read and get the gist of what you missed out on.
Bill Wilks and Phil Copestake are looking forward to attending the GESGB BEOS conference "Standing on the shoulders of giants" taking place on 4-5th March 2025.
Helen Bone and Georgina Lockham are looking forward to attending the SPE Geothermal Conference in just three weeks time to join in the conversation around sustainable energy for the future and what role geothermal energy will play in this. Continue reading to find out more.
In order to further develop Merlin’s capability in wind energy subsurface support, Merlin’s Geoscientist Georgina Lockham, and Senior Geophysicist Eleanor Oldham have recently attended a course and conference dedicated to this net zero energy solution. Continue reading to learn more.
