Extended Geoliday Edition

By Bill Wilks, Principal Geophysicist

Caer Bwdy Bay, North Pembrokeshire – Near St. Davids.

Structural geologists can’t just walk past outcrops like this, even on holiday! A spectacular reverse fault with asymmetric hanging-wall fold in the Lower Cambrian Caerbwdy Sandstone. The exposed hinge zone is gorgeous (at least for this structural nerd!). A relic from the Caledonian-Acadian orogenic phase.
