Cutting-Edge Technology and Expertise

Our commitment to sustainability is bolstered by our deep-rooted expertise in subsurface engineering. Through advanced techniques and state-of-the-art technology, we are able to deliver precise, data-driven solutions for a wide array of energy challenges. Merlin have been working to progress proprietary in-house software solutions to support the evaluation of energy transition solutions. We now have several products to help support these evaluations including a stochastic calculator which can be used to assess mechanical top-seal risk of potential CCS sites. Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS)

CCUS lies at the heart of our mission towards Net Zero. By capturing, utilising, and safely storing CO2 emissions, we are actively reducing the carbon footprint of various industries. From evaluating storage sites to performing dynamic modelling, our capabilities in CCS are comprehensive and far-reaching. Merlin was part of the consortium engaged by the NSTA to identify the risks across the CCUS workflow and construct a matrix for application through carbon storage projects. Risk and uncertainty are at the centre of all subsurface activities, so Merlin was well placed to bring experience to this project.

Research and Innovation

Staying at the forefront of the energy transition requires a dedication to ongoing research and innovation. Our team of experts actively engage in cutting-edge research initiatives, collaborating with universities and industry partners to drive forward the boundaries of sustainable energy solutions. Merlin team members are currently researching a number of topics surrounding carbon storage, including reservoir heterogeneity, top seal capacity, dynamic reservoir modelling, and risk management.
